Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to selecting vendors. Prioritizing your must-haves, considering your wedding style and budget, and establishing a good connection with your vendors are key aspects to ensure a successful and stress-free wedding day.
In this blog I will go over the top 3 aspects to consider when selecting your wedding vendors, I'll share my insights and give you resources so you can make informed decisions and plan away...
Are you ready!? I got you!
1. Wedding Style and overall aesthetic
First, consider the overall style and aesthetic you're aiming for with your wedding. Are you going for a modern, minimalist look or something more whimsical and romantic? Once you've identified your style, look for vendors who specialize in that particular aesthetic.
Most of the services that you will need are based on a creative perspective that is as unique as your fingerprint.
Do not try to force a minimalistic look on an over-the-top, lavish floral designer or vice versa.
If you are into candid photos vs posed, editorial video vs documentary, do not force a style.
They will bring to the table innovative ways to deliver something catered, and truly unique for your wedding and be able to provide the look and feel you're going for.
It's better to source the professional that meets your style; in the end, you will love the result; they will be able to manifest freely their creativity within their style. It's a win-win. Doing the contrary would be like going to a restaurant that specializes in steak and ordering seafood, It may be good but it can be better.
2. Connection
Having synergy with your wedding vendors is crucial to ensuring a successful and stress-free wedding day. It's important to establish a good relationship with your vendors early on, as this will help build trust and open communication.
Setting expectations will relieve stress over the deliverables because it has all been spoken and clear. I always suggest; having a conversation with vendors prior to booking; might seem obvious but many hire without having this conversation. Either a video call or over coffee, getting a feel of the person you will work with is so important to establish that connection. This will apply mainly to Wedding Planner, Decor, Photo + Video.
As your planner; I will source vendors for you, they have already gone through a screening process but this does not skip the step of having you connect with them and feel at peace with your choice. This will be a 12+ month planning process so trust is key.
A well-sourced wedding vendor team will have proven, skilled professionals that will work together to create a cohesive and seamless wedding day experience. This can include coordinating timelines, collaborating on design elements, and working together to troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Overall, having synergy with your wedding vendors is essential to ensuring a successful and stress-free wedding day.
Your vendors are essentially your partners in bringing your vision to life. Look for vendors who are responsive, communicative, and willing to go above and beyond to ensure that your event is a success.
3. Budget
One of the biggest struggles couples have is determining their wedding budget, no matter the scale of the wedding -budget is always an important topic. This is in fact the first assignment in the process of planning one of the most important days of your life.
Budget is always a consideration when selecting vendors. To make the most of your budget, it's important to prioritize your must-haves and allocate your funds accordingly. For example, if you're working with a limited budget, you may need to prioritize the vendors that are most important to you and cut back on others.
Don't get me wrong; adjusting by no means is less special or spectacular, the best thing for you as a couple is to maximize resources, making informed choices on where to allocate your budget. Celebrate love in whichever form works for you.
Focus on what's most important to you and allocate your resources accordingly.
My biggest takeaway is sourcing the "perfect" teams to meet all of those key items on my couples' wish list. It's not about how much you spend but how you spend it.
Weddings are expensive, that is not a secret. They are also what you've daydreamed about since you were little. It does not have to be stressful in regards to choosing who will be with you. It is not this or that -it's everything accommodated to meet our possibilities and priorities.
Do not rule out any vendors thinking they are unattainable, you cannot imagine the lengths that making some adjustments (date, season, guest count) can do.
You've got this!
When selecting vendors, focus on their expertise in your wedding's style and aesthetic, establish a good relationship early on, and allocate your budget accordingly.
Important: In that order; I'd rather you choose someone that you love -slightly over your budget, rather than settle. There's always room to adjust and fall back into place in terms of budget.
Remember that your vendors are your partners in bringing your vision to life, so choose wisely.
